"Brown doesn't simply play music, his vocals color, his guitar imagines and his songs as a whole paint a picture of god-honest America... pure unadulterated talent." - nanobotrock.com

Denny Brown was 16-years old when he first appeared in his home town of Detroit at the Chessmate on a night when John Lee Hooker headlined. By the time he was 20, Denny was the house opener at the Gaslight in NYC on shows with Muddy Waters, Jack Elliot, Howling Wolf, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Doc Watson, Jesse Fuller, Bukka White, Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson, and many others. Also in NYC, Denny Brown opened for The Youngbloods and John Hammond in concert. He thanks Doc Watson, Rev. Gary Davis, and Dave Van Ronk for their help.

Over the past several years, Denny Brown began recording his own songs accompanied by his extended family of major musical innovators, including guitarist David Grissom, keyboardist Booker T. Jones, drummer/producer Erik Nielsen, and engineers Bill Halverson and Tom Flye. The ten tracks contained in this album, Denny Brown: The San Francisco/Austin/Hollywood Sessions, are compiled together for the first time from those incredible indie recordings.
